Noah Ashton’s “Freak In My Text” Is A Jersey Club Classic
Jersey emcee Noah Ashton returns with his third release of the year, and it might just be his best yet. “Freak In My Text” flips the familiar Shigeo Sekito sample as heard on Mac Demarco’s “Chamber of Reflection” as well as “How U Feel?” from the Travis Scott/Quavo collab album. This time, the Japanese jazz tune gets the Jersey club treatment. Ashton’s electric vocals cut through over the instrumental with a fiery energy that pulls the listener in immediately. Coming in at just under two minutes in run-time, Ashton doesn’t waste a beat and makes the most of the skeletal instrumental. The guy knows how to slide into any beat with ease, and does the legendary sample justice.
Off the back of his “Dream Girls Club” and the “Another Year, Vol. 3” releases earlier on in 2023, Noah Ashton is cementing himself as one of the most authentic Jersey artists out there. With a lowkey online presence, Ashton lets his music speak for itself without having to put on a front on Tik Tok and other social media platforms. Whether it’s blasting on a car or club soundsystem, “Freak In My Text” will get anybody moving their body and should absolutely be on your radar for this summer’s best underground hits.
