Louie Ray, a Flint, Michigan-based artist and rapper who has shown potential with his consistency and effortless flows, teamed up with Harlem’s Dave East on the single “Today,” which is set to release Nov. 26 along with an action-packed music video for it.

Louie Ray uses his lyricism to give listeners a taste of street life. He uses his voice to shine light on what it’s like to be a hustler or grinder on a day-to-day basis. The life of a hustler consists of doing whatever it takes to pay the bills and put food on the table, and it often entails violence and risks. Although he is quickly reaching stardom, Louie refuses to leave his passion for being a hustler, and he plans to use his rolling success to support his city.

Some notable tracks Louie is featured on include fellow Michigan native Lil Yachty’s “G.I. Joe,” the biggest hit from Yachty’s project Michigan Boy Beat, and Louie’s long-time collaborator YN Jay’s “Triple S,” a track that took TikTok by storm with its addictive beat and YN’s signature adlibs.

Louie’s recruitment of hip hop icon Dave East for “Today” was the icing on the cake for the fast-paced track. Dave brought his signature storytelling delivery to support Louie’s hard-hitting lyricism.

The two rap moguls can be seen partaking in activities such as ordering hotel food service, chopping it up with day ones, stacking a seemingly unlimited amount of cash and sipping on some alcoholic beverages on top of it all. The transitions move quickly, which works perfectly with the swift pace of the track itself.

The beat of “Today” is infectious to say the least, and Louie and Dave do the production justice with their effortless flows that perfectly ride along the entrancing instrumentals and brisk kick pattern. There are times in the industry when rappers’ verses ruin sensational beats, but Louie and Dave did not let that happen. Their assignment was to provide verses that make the beat even better, and they undoubtedly understood it.

The combination of the entrancing production and the cocky, honest and noteworthy lyricism and compelling flows from Louie Ray and collaborator Dave East made for a future certified hit. Get ready to listen to Louie’s “Today (feat. Dave East)” on Nov. 26, and watch the visual paired with it on YouTube for a truly immersive experience into the life of a not-so-ex hustler.
