Upcoming Release: Aizayah Hills set to drop new single “You Said” Nov. 19
Hawaiian artist Aizayah Hills is about to drop his first single after taking five months away from releasing music. Hills’ signature raspy, full-of-life voice and incorporation of the ukulele can be heard on his upcoming release “You Said.”
“You Said” is set to debut on all platforms Nov. 19, and the music video for the track is set to premiere Nov. 26. In the video, Hills can be seen mini golfing, digitally hijacking boats and more with his friend Kian along the beautiful California Coastline.
“You Said” is fun on the surface with Hills’ naturally upbeat voice and genuine giggles throughout, but the lyrics are about giving up on a toxic relationship and focusing on himself. Hills makes it clear with both the lyrics and the symbolism of the music video that he does not mind doing things on his own.
Hills opens up and shares that he’s over the past, “I don’t want nothin’ to do with you / Don’t stop, you’re playing my songs / Tryin’ to lighten up, you never gave a fuck / Tell me again / Is that your friend? / You shouldn’t lie baby, shouldn’t pretend.”
“You Said” tells the story of a one-sided relationship full of deceit. Although heartbreak is a tough feeling, Hills chooses to represent it in an “I don’t give a fuck” manner, with his laughs incorporated in the song along with the fun he is having in the music video.
Hills is continuing to follow his own style by creating music within his self-proclaimed “beach emo” genre. He calls it “beach emo” because it includes upbeat instruments that remind listeners of the beach, such as the ukulele and drums, but it includes undertones of nostalgia, sadness and loneliness.
As Hills continues to stick to his roots while integrating elements of popular music in his work, it is clear that he will continue gaining an audience with love for music to enjoy while traveling to beautiful places, or to enjoy while daydreaming of being at beautiful places amid stressful times in their lives.
Hills sings, plays the ukulele and engineers his music completely on his own. His authenticity and true passion for making music as an outlet for his deepest feelings separates him from many artists in the industry today. He may have some influences from popular music, but he is not conforming with what is viral, because he would rather follow his own path and create music unlike anything that is trending today.
“You Said” is an anthem for people who have experienced a relationship full of lies, cheating, duplicity and gaslighting, but let it go on for too long before cutting the toxicity out of their lives completely. Give “You Said” a listen on Spotify, Apple Music or wherever you listen to music on Nov. 19, and watch the visual on Youtube on Nov. 26.
