"Joshua Raw Drops Debut EP 'DOGFOOD Demos' Blending Hip Hop and Indie Pop"

Joshua Raw, a Charlotte, NC native and part of the rising trio Biking with Francis, just dropped his debut EP, DOGFOOD demos. The project blends alternative hip hop and indie pop, delivering a sound that's both fresh and captivating. The four tracks on the EP feature sharp lyrics and an engaging delivery that will draw listeners in with each listen.

The first track, "WHAT IF?," opens with a smooth, watery piano sample that perfectly sets the stage for Joshua Raw’s impressive flows and sharp lyrics. The track also features beautiful guitar work in the bridge, with Raw’s style reminding me of Kenny Mason, with touches of Redveil. "JNCO JEANS" follows with a more trap-inspired production, injecting tons of energy into his flow — it’s the kind of track that would light up a live show.

“BIRDIE” is the most melodic cut on the EP, where Raw uses autotune to turn his vocals into a dreamy, synth-like instrument. Paired with punchy basslines and a joyful acoustic guitar, this track feels like the perfect soundtrack for a sunset drive. The closing track, "ELIZA," sums up everything that makes Joshua Raw stand out — a beautiful vibe and genuine songwriting.

Though this is just a four-track demo, the EP feels surprisingly cohesive, showcasing Raw’s clear creative vision. Each song feels fresh, and his vocal versatility gives him an edge over many artists. As a longtime fan of Biking with Francis, it’s exciting to see Raw step into the spotlight with his own solo music.
