Dutchie Montana stuns on new ep “Rebirth”
Since Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, Pittsburgh has been waiting for the next rap star to emerge from the city. Dutchie Montana’s new 7-song EP “Rebirth” puts his name in the running for one of the bubbling rap stars poised to break it out of the Steel City.
Instead of taking the path of gritty street rap, Montana’s approach to the album was to have his listeners empathize with him.
“I wanted to show that I can make an album that had different substance than the typical violence and “drug talk”, he explained. “There's more emotional, heartfelt stories that more people can relate to.”
This idea shines through on songs like “Pain” where his fans can really feel his anguish with lines like “I thought it was all love, but you don’t love the same as me”. His powerful tone and gut-wrenching vocals make this song a truly open look into a vulnerable moment in Montana’s life.
